What is the World Street Food Congress all about?

The World Street Food Congress, it seeks to address three most pressing points of this culinary Street Food culture which serves to be the Pillars of the event:

  1. To Preserve: it’s foodways, heritage and celebrate the culture. To defend your food heritage
  2. To Professionalise: with a new thinking of delivering , serving and entertaining with street food culture
  3. To pave new Possibilities: to open a new lifestyle space for tomorrow’s world of street food soldiers to defend and game on.

The WSFC has three segments which serve to Discuss, Recognise, Realise and Empower the best and the keenest in the fields through three components at the event:

  • The World Street Food Dialogue ( a 2 day Dialogue/ Conference and Hackathon)
  • The World Street Food Jamboree (concurrently with the Dialogue, a 5 day street food feasting festival with the best imported from around the world with top local vendors, side by side)
  • The World Street Food Awards ( where world 5 categories are recognised)

WSF DIALOGUE

What is the WSF Dialogue about?

The WSF Dialogue, held over 2 days (20-21 April), is where some of the world’s most influential movers, thinkers, food gurus, young guns of the industry and advocates will get together to share and  advance Ideas, Campaigns, Opportunities and Aspirations. As part of the Dialogue, delegates can also pitch their ideas and share about their products at the “Pitchbox”, for the world to hear. The Dialogue is a very connected two-way conversation between delegates, presenters and the organisers of WSFC. Many .activations around the world has been realised from this Dialogue.  A new breed of young and young at heart hipster street food thinkers and hawkers are crowding this space with their new found ideas and projects now. Claus Meyer, the co-founder of Noma (World’s Best Restaurant winner) is now building his street food hall in Central Station in New York, not far from where celebrity foodie Anthony Bourdain is constructing his Bourdain Market in Manhattan (with the help of WSFC founder KF Seetoh).

How do I be a Speaker or Presenter at the WSF Dialogue

The WSF Dialogue is presented by a curated set of speakers, who are Influencers, Thinkers, Interventionist, Entrepreneurs, Related Government Regulators, Tourism and Trade Players, Manufacturers, Food Celebrities, Top Street Food Chefs etc. They all provide a message that can help advance the interest of the WSFC movement in their various capacities, based on the Theme of the event that particular year. Please write in  and tell us about yourself, qualifying your role for and in the industry. A smiling photo image of you will help us along too, and it does not matter how old, young, where you are from and what colour you are (not even how you look like) we need fresh and new messages to constantly move the WSFC ideals along. WSF Dialogue is ticketed and the prices as follows:

What is the WSF Dialogue dress code?

Smart casual dress code – collared polo shirts, pants, knee length skirts, covered shoes
No t shirts (especially with commercial logos and inappropriate slogans), No shorts, Bermudas, flipflops

Entry will be declined to those who are inappropriately dressed.

WSF JAMBOREE

How can I operate a stall at the WSF Jamboree

As at now (March 2016), we are already in the advanced stages of curation of World Street Food Congress (WSFC) 2016 Jamboree in Manila. Do let us have more information about your company and dishes (send us pictures too) at contact@wsfcongress.com . We need both local (country of event) and international street food vendor (where a food truck, street hawker stall, café or restaurant   offering modern, progressive and heritage street food dishes. We like also to keep you in mind for our other related events and future editions of World Street Food Congress in your country and around the world.  Typically, about 80,000 foodies throng this 5-day event.

What is the WSF Jamboree about?


It’s a feasting festival held over 5 days (20-24 April) featuring 24 Street Food Masters from up to 10 countries. Attendees can also catch free cooking demonstrations and enjoy live music. So come on down with your friends and families, to support the humble hawkers who are helping to preserve the world’s popular food phenomena – heritage street food culture. It’ll be noisy, delicious and fun, what with at least 15,000 people showing up each evening or that celebration of heritage street food, music, shows and dance.

Is it WSFC Jamboree free to the Public?

Yes, the WSFC Jamboree will be free entry to the public, so bring your friends and family. You just pay for what buy.

How much are food price range at the WSF Jamboree?

The food ranges from 200 pesos onwards. It features world class street style desserts, hot meals, snacks and even vegetarian fare from 10 countries, many of which are new to Manila. There will also be a line-up of local Filipino fare manned by top local chefs and vendors.

WSF AWARDS

What are the Awards about and who’s the selection committee?

The categories will be awarded to recognise the best soldiers and leaders in this field of culinary culture and industry. The award winners will be chosen by our WSF Council and Advisors around the world and will be announced after the World Street Food Congress. Volunteers for the WSFC 16? How do I apply to participate?

Yes, if you are seeking opportunities to learn and observe the ways WSFC16 then we need you. We seek to have volunteers locally to support and even learn from the international street food chefs and WSFC in operations and assistance in general, both back and front of house operations. You will be well fed and taken care of, of course. Is the WSFC open to non- food items for exhibition?

Yes, there are many products and services related to WSFC and food culture lifestyle in general but not directly, like Tourism, Transport, street fashion products, Telecom (content), online portals, investment arms and even Banks.
